Sachin is a physicist by training, an engineer by profession and a hobbyist investor.
Sachin studied for degree in Engineering Physics from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay before completing his PhD in Physics in 2006 from the University of California San Diego.
From 2006 to 2009, he was a postdoctoral fellow in the research group of William Ditto and Paul Carney at University of Florida. From 2010 through 2013, he was an Assistant Professor in College of Medicine at UF, where his lab focused on developing tools and techniques for studying the evolution of epilepsy in rodent models of temporal lobe epilepsy. In Aug of 2013, he moved on to an industry position at the Corp R&D division of Qualcomm in San Diego, where his primary work wass focused on investigating deep learning algorithms for object recognition and time series analysis.
He left Qualcomm for a short stint at Lawrence Livermore National Lab, where he was involved in various machine learning (deep learning projects) on topics of national interest.
He is currently a member of Econ Engineering team at Amazon.com, working on machine learning methods to improve amazon search ranking for softline product categories.
